Rocks and Water
The seamless and beautifully woven patterns nestled sweetly in Scripture are a powerful testimony unto the Author and the greatness of His goodness. The Word of God has always been alive and powerful. I am amazed how God Almighty Yahweh can speak in the present from scripture written in the past to an individual at a specific time and place in the future. Try wrapping your head around that. Fear, is the beginning of wisdom.
I was watching a documentary on the Exodus and its supported evidence in archeology. It made me think about how Moses entrance into the promised land was overtaken by God's will, in that he took credit for that which was not his own doing: bringing forth water from the rock to quench the thirst of a famished people. Enter here God's seamless masterpiece - Jesus IS the Rock and HE is the source and the water. Mankind cannot ever take credit for what comes from God. Its just that simple. For in these moments it is His glory and honor at stake in a world that He seeks to not know Him. He wants to be your water. He wants to be your rock. He wants you to know that life giving water comes from the rock and He is both.
This speaks volumes to me individually. You see, all of my life I have loved rocks and the water. I have collected rocks all of my life, and in a moment like right now, I believe the reason for that to be Him, that I would later see God in all things. I have always loved being on the water as well- it has been the leading reason for every place that I love to this day and the place that I live. I will be along the Ohio River tomorrow and often thereafter for this is where I believe He has always sought me, and I Him. So many rivers and streams are lacking thousands of stones today for this reason. And at the end of the day I truly believe that it is not because I choose to see God in my life that I do, I believe that He made that choice for me. Despite the trials and tribulations I brought upon myself, in my quiet places where I would so often seek answers from a God I knew not that today, He would finds me then and now.
This would mean that He loved me then, and it is so important for us to come to that reckoning. The greater we see sin, the greater we see His love. It makes us sin less to know that He wouuld love us when in purpose and action, we resided so far away from Him. It makes the journey to God one that increases in rightousness and fortitude towards obedience, because in so many little ways, upon or waters and rocks - He loved us first.
